Questions.
What the case is, what it is made of, and what it will and will not do. Every answer is supported by the Rev A2 documents.
The case
What is VALT?
A case for nicotine pouches, milled from a single block of aluminium, that rides on the back of your phone. Eight individual slots for fresh pouches and a separate full-depth tray for used ones, so the two never touch.
What is it made of?
6061-T6 aluminium billet, CNC machined, bead blasted and Type II satin anodised, so the colour is in the metal rather than painted on. The lid rides on titanium glide strips with a hard coating, against stainless steel strike pads.
How many pouches does it hold?
Eight, in individual slots of 15.0 by 34.7 by 5.2 millimetres, which suits slim and all-white formats. The discard cavity runs the full width beneath them.
Fit
Is it MagSafe compatible?
Yes. A MagSafe ring module and a steel flux plate are bonded into the chassis, so it aligns and holds the way an official MagSafe accessory does.
Will it fit my phone?
Fit is verified against every iPhone model through the 17 Pro, including camera clearance. The closed case is 66 by 95 by 9.2 millimetres.
Does it work with a phone case?
Usually, but it depends on your case. Cases change the rear step and the camera lip, so we are testing against Apple and common third-party cases with a measured gauge before production. We will publish the list before orders open.
Will the metal scratch my phone?
No metal touches the phone. A hard-coated film sits flush in the phone-side seat, which is also Apple's own guidance for accessories.
Everyday
Will it stay shut in a pocket?
The lid slides either way to magnetic detents and stops there. It does not hinge, clip or spring, so there is nothing to snag and nothing to wear out.
Is it waterproof?
It is not a sealed case and should not be submerged. The bonded and potted joints are wash resistant, so a splash or a wipe is fine.
Ordering
When can I order?
Prototypes are being quoted now. We will email the list once, when orders open, and the list orders first.
